Gillian Haughton

Gillian has been a journalist for 20 years and a Member of the Press Association of Jamaica.  She now serves as the Director of Communications & Public Affairs, Ministry of National Security for Jamaica

As a journalist she was exposed to all avenues of society and believes it is important to give back to the community/society in an effort to help make things better. We do not exist in a vacuum; hence it is extremely important for each person to do hi/her part in helping someone.  We never know when our intervention will help to make a youngster make a decision as to whether he/she remains on the straight and narrow path and make something of his/her life, as against becoming a gangster/criminal etc.  We grew up with the help of others who had positive influences on our lives.  The least we can do is reciprocate this in an effort to make our communities/society a better place to live.
